  • Kim Sprague

    Kim Sprague

    Portrait of artist Kim Sprague

Kim Sprague is a wife, mom, sister, aunt, daughter, niece, and friend, and art has always been part of who she is. It started with a love of coloring books as a little girl. In junior high art class with Mrs. Conger, she realized how much she liked to draw and discovered she had a real talent for it.

In high school, teachers Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Meyer helped her build those skills, and she fell in love with creating beauty and emotion on paper using nothing more than lead, chalk, or ink. After graduating, she studied graphic art at Lansing Community College and was accepted to the Disney Institute of Art. Life took her in a different direction, and she doesn’t regret it. Kim has found she’s a better artist when she’s making what she enjoys rather than what someone else has in mind.

Today she draws because it helps her feel and work through her emotions, keeps her grounded, and sparks her creativity, and because she simply loves putting a pencil or pen to paper and seeing what she can make.

Art has always been a part of me.

  • MD Grazier

    MD Grazier

    Portrait of artist MD Grazier

MD Grazier is a self-taught painter whose work is built on bold color, expressive movement, and a deep love of texture. She grew up in Oklahoma, where she started painting out of a need to make things with her hands and bring the vivid world in her head to life. Her paintings lean into the physical nature of paint itself: spontaneous, tactile surfaces and the emotional charge of intuitive mark-making.

She has exhibited in galleries across the region, including shows in Oklahoma and Wyoming. Now based in Michigan, she continues to grow her practice and has shown work at the Shiawassee Art Center. Her paintings favor expression over perfection, and draw viewers in with dynamic texture and a raw sense of immediacy.

Her studio is a place of movement, mess, and discovery, where she turns feeling into form and makes work that invites others to see the world more vividly.

    Expression over perfection.

  • Dylan Macarty

    Dylan Macarty

Dylan Macarty has been making art since kindergarten, and it’s one of the few things in his life that has stayed with him the whole way through. He spent his childhood and most of his twenties drawing comic book characters. After his father passed away, he went looking for something new to help him heal, and found it in abstract drawing and painting. He hasn’t looked back since.

His abstract work explores energy, emotion, instinct, intuition, and the subconscious, and tries to give them a visual form. Dylan sees abstraction as a language beyond words, one that an open-minded viewer can read in countless ways. He draws on a wide range of artists from every style, background, and era, and mixes established techniques with methods of his own. The one he values most is instinct: he deliberately avoids planning or dwelling on what he’s making, so that what reaches the surface is as raw and unfiltered as possible.

Dylan believes artists evolve over time, in style and in how they express themselves, and that watching that change, in others and in yourself, is a remarkable thing. Making art has helped him through some of life’s hardest losses and keeps showing him things about himself he never expected. He plans to keep at it for as long as he’s able.

I purposefully do not think or dwell on what it is that I am creating.
